Collaboration with the Biofuture Platform

The ART Fuels Forum has recently established collaboration with the Biofuture Platform, an action-oriented, country-led, multi-stakeholder coalition on low carbon transport and the bioeconomy launched last November at UNFCCC COP23 by Brazil, Canada, China, Finland, France, India, Italy, Sweden, UK, US and other ten countries. The Platform aims to facilitate for policy dialogue and collaboration among leading countries, organizations, academia and the private sector conscious of the need to accelerate development and scale up deployment of modern sustainable low carbon alternatives to fossil based solutions in transport, chemicals, plastics and other sectors.

The agreed collaboration will see the ART Fuels Forum network mobilizing experts and stakeholders to participate in Biofuture Platform conferences and policy debates in appropriate topics, as well as cross-communication and awareness-raising actions between both initiatives.

The Biofuture Platform is being coordinated by the government of Brazil, as interim facilitator, and is working with member governments, international organizations, and non-government actors to achieve its goals. According to the initial mandate agreed by its 20 founding countries, the Platform is working on the preparation of a State of the Low Carbon Bioeconomy Report, a Vision Statement for the Biofuture, and a series of policy and industry-oriented conferences, the first of which is set for October 24 and 25 in São Paulo, Brazil.
